Welcome to Retiro dos Cavaleiros

Retiro dos Cavaleiros, which translates to The Knights' Retreat, is a unique location in central Portugal. The name alludes to the "Cavaleiros de Cristo", translated as "Knights of Christ", who, as a succession organisation to the medieval Knights Templar, had their base in the nearby historic city of Tomar, leaving behind some magnificent architecture.

We are in the progress of establishing a small hotel in a unique setting and an agricultural operation on an area of almost 9ha following the principles of permaculture and syntropic farming.

Building and preparation are currently making good progress, and we hope to complete the legal procedure for opening a hotel by end of summer 2020.
